Prolonging the decisive moment
August 26-28
Early Bird (until 1 June) – £500, Normal price (after 1 June) – £600
Do you love candid photography?
Have you experienced the thrill of catching a fleeing moment of something totally unpredictable?
Have you done it more than once?
Have you also experienced the devastating feeling of failure when that moment just passed without you getting hold of it?
Have you had the wish to prolong that moment for you to catch up? Perhaps even restage it?
Have you been contemplating if staging is contrary to the unwritten rules of street photography?
Then this workshop might be something for you.

I do street photography in the sense that ‘the street’ is my working ground. I walk the streets without preconceptions. But I seldom do hit-and-run photography. My main interest is other people, so I need to get in contact with strangers. In different ways I create conditions which make it possible for me to hang out with them for a longer or shorter period of time. In other words, prolonging the moment in which I can perform candid photography.
I have been working like this for more than 30 years, which has given me some experience. Still every new situation is different. It is a constant challenge and joy.
During the workshop we will look at your photographs and discuss them together as well as make new ones. We will talk about practical stuff such as working methods and concrete challenges in the street. We will also reflect on the purpose of what we’re doing, how we can make our visualisations of the outer world reflect even our personal inner world. Depending on the wishes of the participants, we can go on, widen the perspective and talk about ways to develop a longer personal project.

Bring some photographs to show. Not too many, not too few. Be brave and bring some of your failures too.
