We are proud to present world famous documentary photographer Jens Olof Lasthein as LSPF keynote speaker, judge, and a workshop leader.
Jens Olof Lasthein is educated at the Nordic Photoschool in Stockholm, Sweden, 1989-92 and has been working as a freelance photographer since then, partly with assignments for magazines and newspapers, partly with self-initiated projects.
He has held more than 50 solo exhibitions around the world and published six books:
Moments in Between about the Balkan wars in the 90ies
White Sea Black Sea about the borderland between eastern and western Europe
Home Among Black Hills with pictures from Charleroi in Belgium
Meanwhile Across the Mountain, with pictures from the Caucasus
Far – Near, a visual journey to the farthest-flung corners of Europe and to the center of the continent
Weltschmerz, a series of street portraits from Stockholm
Jens is concerned with finding the drama in seemingly uneventful everyday situations. A pervading theme in all the books is borders and borderlands, internal and external, and the question what they mean to people.
He has received a number of prizes and grants including the Leica Oscar Barnack Award in 2010.
