Sonia Madrigal lives and works in Ciudad Nezahualcoyotl, a big city close to Mexico City. Her work explores different visual narratives to reflect on gender, the body and territory. She was the winner of the Acquisition Prize of the XXI Photography Biennial 2025 of the Image Center (Mexico). She was a grantee to be in some to be in some artistic and research residencies in New York, Ecuador y Brazil. Her work has been included in biennials and exhibitions across Europe, Latin and North America, and has been published in books, journals and magazines such as Harper’s, Aperture, El País, La Repubblica, the Academic Council of the United Nations System (ACUNS) and The Guardian.
